umesh%20resign%20mainBengaluru: In a big relief for BJP candidate from Kalaburugi Umesh Jadhav, who recently quit the Congress party to join the BJP, his resignation from the Chincholi MLA post has been accepted.

His resignation was accepted by Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar.

It can be recalled that the Congress had raised objections to his resignation, saying he had gone against the party and that he should be barred from contesting in any elections for the next five years, as per the provisions of the Anti-Defection law.

However, the Speaker rejected the Congress’ objections and accepted Jadhav’s resignation letter. This means that he can now contest from the Kalaburugi Lok Sabha constituency against Mallikharjun Kharge of the Congress.
