State-owned Stores face Shortage of Rice to Honor Poll Manifesto

Bangalore: In spite of the state administration introduced the project of 30 kilograms of rice at Re 1 per kilograms to come into effect from June 1, the state-owned stores have no sufficient stock of rice.

The state-owned stores have a mere 1.80 lac quintals of rice, while the estimated requirement exceeds 2.40 lac quintals per month.  Therefore, CM Siddaramaiah requested the union government to supply the shortfall of 60,000 quintals of rice.

The state authorities are pooling the finances to meet the urgent need, while CM Siddaramaiah requisitioned PM Dr Manmohan Singh and related union ministers.  PM Dr Singh agreed to supply 25,000 quintals of rice in this regard.
