Bengaluru: The state government sought Rs 24,941 crores as flood damages from the Centre and submitted a detailed final report in this regard.
According to the report, standing crops in 20.86 lakh hectares of land were damaged in the recent floods and rains. As per the SDRF rules, the state is releasing Rs 2,285.89 crores as compensation for the affected families.
The report also pointed out that roads and other infrastructure of 37,806 kilometres were destroyed in the flood. Compared to other parts of the state, huge losses were reported from the North Karnataka region where major rivers like the Krishna, Bhima etc. flow.
