Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court issued an interim order on Monday, instructing the state government to pay Rs 7.25 per unit (KWH) for electricity supplied by JSW Energy. This ruling came during the hearing of a petition by GSW, which contested the rates set by the state government before a single judge. In contrast, all electricity supply companies (ESCOM) will charge Rs 4.86 per unit.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale and Justice Krishna S Dixit issued this order after reviewing an appeal from JSW Energy, which contested the directives issued by the state government and the Karnataka Electricity Transmission Corporation on the 16th and 17th of the previous month, respectively.
The division bench has instructed the state government to present its response to the single-judge bench within a week. Additionally, they have requested the single judge to make a decision on the petition within a week after receiving the response.
