In a disturbing incident on Friday morning, unidentified individuals hurled stones at a private bus while it was travelling near University College in Mangaluru.

The bus, which was in motion at the time, was suddenly targeted by a group of miscreants who fled the scene immediately after the assault. Eyewitnesses were caught off guard, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Authorities have yet to identify those responsible. However, the unexpected act of violence has caused concern among commuters and operators alike.

As a direct result of the attack, private bus services across the city were suspended. Operators took this decision as a precautionary measure to safeguard passengers and staff from further incidents. The sudden suspension has disrupted the morning commute for many residents, especially students and workers who depend heavily on these services for daily travel.

Transport officials and police have initiated an inquiry and are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby areas to track down the culprits. Meanwhile, commuters are being urged to remain calm and use alternate modes of transport where available.

City police have stepped up patrolling around sensitive zones, particularly in and around educational institutions, to prevent any escalation or repeat occurrences.

Authorities have promised swift action and appealed for public cooperation in providing any information related to the attack.
