Concerns over Bengaluru’s growing stray dog menace resurfaced after a woman student was allegedly attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Hoysala Nagar near Ramamurthy Nagar on Friday evening.

According to reports, the incident occurred while the student was walking home through a residential lane. CCTV footage of the attack, which later went viral on social media, showed a group of more than 10 stray dogs blocking the pathway before suddenly turning aggressive.

Student bitten while trying to escape

As the student attempted to walk past the dogs, the pack reportedly began barking loudly and charging towards her. Frightened by the sudden attack, she screamed for help and tried to move away.

However, one of the dogs allegedly bit her multiple times before local residents and passersby rushed to rescue her and chased the animals away.

The injured student was later taken to the KR Puram Government Hospital, where she received treatment and anti-rabies vaccinations.

Residents raise safety concerns

The incident has triggered concern among residents of Hoysala Nagar, many of whom claim stray dog attacks have become increasingly common in the area.

Locals said walking on the streets, especially during the evening and night hours, has become risky due to the growing number of aggressive stray dogs.

Residents have urged civic authorities to intensify animal birth control drives and relocate aggressive dog packs from residential neighbourhoods.

Debate over stray dog management continues

The latest incident has once again sparked debate over Bengaluru’s stray dog management policies, balancing public safety concerns with animal welfare measures.

Authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement regarding further action in the locality
