Bengaluru: Following a complaint filed by the motorist, a sub-inspector attached to the Chikpet traffic police station has been suspended on Tuesday on charges of misbehaving.
PSI Anjanappa is said to be the suspended sub-inspector.
According to the complaint, Amruth was travelling from Banashankari to Rajajinagar on Saturday when he was stopped near Good Shed Road as he was turning towards Magadi Road. PSI Anjanappa, who stopped the motorist allegedly took a bribe of Rs 1,100 from him as a fine for having a shrill horn.
The complainant said, “But he refused to provide a bill. He told me to collect it from the police station on Monday. On reaching home, I learnt that the fine for a shrill horn is Rs. 100. I would like to know why Rs.1,000 extra was collected from me and also why the bill was not given to me.”
After the complainant had uploaded the complaint on social media, the PSI allegedly called motorist to the police station to collect the Rs 1,100. PSI also asked policemen to seize complainant’s vehicle. Following this, DCP Traffic West Girish S suspended PSI Anjanappa for misbehaving with the complainant.
