Bengaluru: More than 12,000 people participated in the TCS 10k marathon in Bengaluru on Sunday, May 15.
Scores of Marathon enthusiasts and supporters gathered at Kanteerava stadium during early hours to participate in the ninth TCS World 10K marathon to mark it as a mega event of the city.
What struck the nerves of many who witnessed the event are Manjula, a physically-challenged woman and Naveen, a visually-challenged person taking part in the marathon among many others.
The traffic police and other departments concerned had made elaborate arrangements to divert the traffic from the roads where the marathon took place.
As expected, traffic movement literally came to standstill near K R Circle, Hudson Circle, Cantonment area, Ulsoor, Shivaji nagar and other areas for more than two hours due to the Marathon.
Swati Gadhave managed to clock the first place completing 10 km run in 34:45 min.
Sanjeevani Yadav stood at second place as he finished in 36:13 min.
Swathi is a national-l evel Marathon runner and works as ticket collector at Pune railway station.
Meanwhile, Mosinet Geremew and Peres Jepchirchir emerged as victorious in overall category.
