Bengaluru: In a tragic accident in East Bengaluru’s Nallurhalli, an eight-year-old boy, identified as Parashuram, lost his life after being hit by a two-wheeler on Monday evening. Parashuram, originally from Raichur, was crossing Nallurhalli Main Road with his parents nearby when the incident occurred around 7:30 pm. The motorist, Mahesh, a tech professional from Andhra Pradesh, immediately transported the child to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Whitefield traffic police detained Mahesh following the accident.
In another incident, early Sunday morning in Whitefield, a goods auto overturned near Varthur Kodi Road, resulting in the death of its driver, 44-year-old Manjunath, and injuries to his wife, Mamatha, who was also in the vehicle.
Multiple road accidents were reported across Bengaluru over the weekend. In Bagalakunte, Bharat Kumar, a 27-year-old clothing merchant, died after his two-wheeler collided with an autorickshaw. The accident left Kumar fatally injured, while his pillion rider, Pavan, sustained minor injuries. In another case, a 22-year-old silversmith, Prithbi Buniya from West Bengal, died on BGS Flyover after his scooter crashed into a median and an electric pole around 3 am on Monday. Buniya, a resident of Azad Nagar, was reportedly en route to Mysuru Road when the accident occurred.
Meanwhile, MG Road witnessed a drunk-driving incident where three vehicles, including a cab and a private car, were damaged. The driver responsible for the crash was taken to Bowring Hospital, where police are awaiting his statement.
The incidents highlight the ongoing concerns over road safety and the dangers posed by reckless driving and impaired driving in Bengaluru.
