Bengaluru: Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya was fined for not wearing a mask in public during a rally, the state government informed the Karnataka High Court on Monday, November 9.
According to the state government’s submission, as per reports, the fine of Rs 250 was paid on November 7 and was registered at the Vyalikaval police station in Bengaluru.
It can be recalled that last week, the High Court questioned the Karnataka Government if Tejasvi Surya and other political leaders were fined for violating the established COVID-19 norms during political rallies, based on a petition filed by advocate Ramesh Puthige.
The petition is being heard by Chief Justice Abhay Sreenivas Oka and Justice Vishwajith Shetty. During the hearing, the bench raised questions regarding pictures of Tejasvi Surya seen without a mask during a rally on September 30.
The state government also listed in its submission, the details of 684 people who were fined for not wearing masks during campaigns for the RR Nagar by-polls last week.
