Bengaluru: Tesla has launched a new experience centre in Whitefield, Bengaluru, further expanding its presence in India’s growing electric vehicle market. The facility, which opened to visitors from May 14, 2026, will showcase the Tesla Model Y alongside the newly introduced Tesla Model Y L six-seat electric SUV.
The company said the move is aimed at strengthening customer engagement in India while supporting the transition towards sustainable and cleaner mobility solutions.
Along with the new experience centre, Tesla has also introduced after-sales service support in Whitefield to provide Bengaluru customers with improved ownership convenience and maintenance assistance.
Model Y and Model Y L on display
Visitors at the new Whitefield experience centre can explore both the standard Model Y and the recently launched Model Y L, which has been designed as a larger six-seat electric SUV targeted at family-oriented buyers.
According to Tesla, the Model Y L offers enhanced interior space, versatility and passenger comfort through its three-row seating layout.
The company stated that the SUV has received a 5-star safety rating from ANCAP and has been engineered to provide improved headroom, legroom and overall comfort for both drivers and passengers.
Tesla said the Model Y L is capable of delivering a driving range of up to 681 km under WLTP standards while accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 5 seconds.
The vehicle also offers cargo capacity of up to 2,539 litres, making it suitable for long-distance travel and family usage.
Focus on safety and advanced technology
Tesla highlighted that both the Model Y and Model Y L have received top safety ratings from several international safety assessment agencies.
These include organisations such as NHTSA and IIHS in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, ANCAP in Australia and New Zealand, and CIASI in China.
The company said the vehicles are designed to set benchmarks in safety, efficiency, performance and advanced automotive technology.
Tesla has consistently emphasised safety features, driver assistance systems and battery protection technologies as key aspects of its electric vehicle portfolio globally.
Battery and charging specifications
Both the Model Y Long Range and the larger Model Y L are equipped with the same 83 kWh battery pack and support charging speeds of up to 250 kW.
Despite being the larger vehicle with an all-wheel-drive system, Tesla claimed that the Model Y L delivers a slightly higher range than the Model Y Long Range.
According to the company, the Model Y L provides nearly 20 km more range on a full charge compared to the standard long-range variant.
Tesla also stated that the advantage continues during fast charging sessions. In a 15-minute Supercharger session, the Model Y L can reportedly add up to 288 km of range, compared to around 267 km for the Model Y Long Range.
After-sales support and home charging
As part of its India expansion strategy, Tesla has introduced after-sales service facilities in Whitefield to support vehicle maintenance and customer assistance.
The company said it aims to make electric vehicle ownership smoother and more reliable for customers in Bengaluru.
Tesla also emphasised its “Plug In, Charge and Go” approach, which is intended to simplify long-distance electric mobility and make EV usage more practical for everyday transportation needs.
In addition, the company confirmed that home charging support is available for Indian customers to ensure convenient charging infrastructure and easier adoption of electric vehicles.
EV market in India continues to grow
Tesla’s expansion in Bengaluru comes at a time when India’s electric vehicle market is witnessing steady growth, particularly in metro cities where charging infrastructure and consumer interest are increasing rapidly.
Bengaluru, often regarded as India’s technology capital, has emerged as one of the country’s leading EV markets due to rising environmental awareness and strong demand for premium electric mobility solutions.
Industry observers believe Tesla’s latest expansion and introduction of larger family-oriented electric SUVs could further strengthen competition in India’s premium EV segment.
