Bengaluru: Three people, including an auto-rickshaw driver, have been arrested after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly lured on the pretext of visiting a temple and subjected to abuse in Bengaluru.
According to police, the incident came to light after the girl informed her family about the ordeal, following which a complaint was lodged.
Police arrest three accused
Investigators said the minor was allegedly persuaded to accompany the accused on the promise of visiting a temple. During the outing, she was reportedly made to consume alcohol before being abused.
Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and traced the suspects. Three accused, including an auto-rickshaw driver, were subsequently arrested.
The identities of the survivor and the accused have not been disclosed in accordance with legal provisions protecting the identity of minors involved in such cases.
Investigation underway
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is in progress.
Authorities said the minor is receiving the necessary support as the investigation continues. Police have also urged the public not to share any information that could reveal the identity of the survivor.
