Bengaluru: Transport Minister H M Revanna informed that he would submit a request to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to cut Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) fares by 10 percent.
Addressing a press conference, Revanna said that 4 transport corporations of the state are under loss. Still, for the benefit of passengers, a request will be submitted to the CM to slash fares.
The Chief Minister has called a meeting on the budget on Sunday. A prior meeting of officers will be called to discuss the matter, he said.
“The transport department has decided to give many new schemes through this budget; we will request the chief minister, who is also the finance minister to earmark at least Rs. 1,000 crores to the transport department.
We will request to release remaining Rs.341 crores of concession bus pass, which is with the government. There is a proposal of free tractor driving class and providing a license to farmers, the issue will be discussed with the Chief Minister,” he said.
An additional request will be submitted to the chief minister on giving free driving license to SC-ST candidates who apply for Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) license, the Transport Minister added.
