A 27-year-old man from Tripura was found dead in Bengaluru in an alleged case of suicide after reportedly suffering severe psychological trauma following an assault that left him with serious injuries to his private parts. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to his death.
The deceased has been identified as Tapan Nath (27), who worked at a pub in Koramangala and lived in a rented house in Ejipura under the jurisdiction of the Viveknagar Police Station.
Roommate found him hanging
According to police, Nath did not report for work on July 12. Later that night, at around 11.30 pm, his roommate returned home and found him hanging. The police were informed, and a case was registered based on a complaint filed by his family.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
Family links death to earlier assault
Preliminary investigations revealed that Nath was allegedly assaulted by a group of friends during a drunken altercation at a party around three to four months ago. The assault reportedly caused grievous injuries to his private parts.
According to his family, Nath sought medical treatment without informing them because he felt embarrassed about the incident. They alleged that doctors later informed him the injuries could affect his ability to father children in the future, causing him severe emotional distress and depression.
The family believes the trauma resulting from the alleged assault drove him to take the extreme step and has demanded strict action against those responsible.
Police continue investigation
Police have registered a case and are examining all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the claims made by the family.
Authorities have not yet disclosed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the alleged assault.
If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide or overwhelming emotional distress, seeking support from trusted family members, friends, or a qualified mental health professional can make a difference.
