Tumakuru: In a shocking incident, a mother-in-law was brutally assaulted with an iron pipe by her daughter-in-law at KRS Agrahara in the Kunigal Town on Friday November 4.
Chikkathayamma (65), a resident of Gajanapalya Village in Amruthur Hobli and a resident of KRS Agrahara in Kunigal Town, was assaulted by daughter-in-law Soumya.
Chikkathayamma has two sons, Shivakumar and N. Shankar. Shivakumar lives in Bengaluru. Chikkathayamma, along with another son N. Shankar, has been staying in a rented house for the past one-and-a-half months at the house of Revanna at KRS Agrahara.
N. Shankar has been married to Soumya and has two daughters. Soumya is said to have repeatedly harassed Chikkathayamm mentally and physically harassed urging her to go to Shivakumar’s house in Bengaluru. Soumya was reportedly advised by her neighbours several times in this regard, but on Friday morning, a scuffle was heard at Chikkathayamma’s House.
Meanwhile, Shankar’s children Gautami and Sahana came out of the house and cried that their mother was beating up their grandmother.
According to the complaint, Soumya caused grievous injuries and abused her and said that she would kill her.
Soumya’s mother-in-law, who was seriously injured was given first aid at a Government Hospital in Kunigal Town and shifted to Adichunchanagiri Hospital for further treatment.
Chikkathayamma’s condition is said to be critical and H. V. Lakshmana Gowda has lodged a complaint with Kunigal Police in this regard.
