Tumakuru: State President of The Fixed Pension Government Employees’ Association and Under Secretary of Government Shantaram has urged the Government to re-implement the old pension scheme to support Government employees in old age.

Addressing the Government employees who had gathered in front of the BESCOM Office in the Town, he said that 2.80 lakh jobs were lying vacant in various departments of the State and there was a lot of pressure on the existing employees. “We don’t ask why there is pension for MLAs and ministers who remain in power for just five years in general. The Government, which orders that there is only one job, gives tens of thousands of responsibilities. For 35 years, we work for the people like the children of the Government. “If we don’t have pension in our old age, in today’s price rise, life will be in dire state,” he said.

However, we have been fighting for the implementation of the old pension scheme for the past six years and are touring 17 districts to create awareness. He also said on November 13, we will meet in Davanagere and give final touches to the protest. Finally, on December 19, we have decided to hold an indefinite protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru and protest for pension on the lines of Rajasthan and Jharkhand with the slogan ‘Do or Die’. He appealed to all to join the struggle on that day.
