Tumakuru: Village accountants (VAs) staged a protest in front of the Taluk Office here on Saturday November 18 against an argument between two officials over a court document file which prompted an angry Revenue Inspector to assault a Village Accountant.
Ediyur Revenue Inspector Chandrayya assaulted Village Accountant R. Yashwanth and the office-bearers of Karnataka State Village Accountants’ Central Association and Taluk Unit staged a protest on the steps of the Taluk Office here demanding that the Tahasildar take appropriate action and provides justice. As soon as the matter came to light, the Shirastedar who came to the spot convinced the protestors who withdrew the protest immediately.
The incident of two officials, who were supposed to provide documents related to government facilities and property to the public from the Taluk Office fighting over the file and the Revenue Inspector assaulting the Village Accountant under him has triggered a debate among the public.
The incident of Village Accountant R. Yashwanth, who was on duty in the Taluk Office, was physically assaulted by Revenue Inspector Chandrayya, who abused the Village Accountant with words has dented the morale if not only the employee who was assaulted but also the morale of all the village accountants in the Taluk. In his complaint to the Tahasildar, Karnataka State Village Accountants’ Central Association and Taluk Unit President Vijayakumar has appealed to the Tahasildar to take appropriate steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
