Tumakuru: H. R. Channakeshava, the younger son of Former MP H. G. Ramulu, who was preparing to contest as an independent candidate from Gangavathi Assembly constituency, joined the JD (S) in the presence of Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy at the JD (S) office in Bengaluru on the afternoon of Thursday March 30.
H. R. Channakeshava, who had managed to get the Congress party ticket in 2013, later gave up the Congress ticket to his brother H. R. Srinath on the instructions of his father. He later joined the BJP and tried hard to get a BJP ticket during the 2014 Lok Sabha and 2018 Assembly elections.
He continued to be in the BJP after a compromise with the BJP leaders and had travelled across the entire constituency to contest as an independent candidate as he was fed up with the BJP leader’s behaviour that he was being ignored during any party programme and visit of the party’s State leaders to Gangavathi Koppal.
Meanwhile, JDb(S) State President H. D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday formally called him to join the party after he telephoned Channakeshava and assured him that he would be the JD (S) candidate from Gangavathi Constituency.
