In a major breakthrough, Thalaghattapura Police Station has recovered 20 stolen two-wheelers worth nearly ₹15 lakh after arresting two suspected vehicle thieves involved in multiple cases across the city.
The arrests came during an investigation into the theft of a two-wheeler reported near a temple in the Thalaghattapura area on March 20.
Arrest near NICE Road
Acting on leads gathered through informants, police tracked the suspects and arrested them near NICE Road on April 16. A stolen two-wheeler was also seized during the operation.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to stealing vehicles from different parts of Bengaluru.
Bikes hidden in multiple spots
Police said the suspects had hidden the stolen two-wheelers at several secluded locations, including a mango grove near Pipeline Road, vacant land beside Rajahamsa Garden, and a BDA site at Nagegowdana Palya.
Following the disclosures, officers conducted searches and recovered 20 stolen two-wheelers from these locations.
Twenty theft cases solved
Investigators said the recovery has helped crack 20 vehicle theft cases registered across Bengaluru, offering relief to many victims who had lost their vehicles.
The recovered bikes are estimated to be worth around ₹15 lakh.
Court sends accused to custody
The two suspects were produced before a city court on April 17 and remanded to judicial custody.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were linked to a larger theft network or had sold stolen spare parts in the black market.
Vehicle owners urged to stay alert
Police have advised citizens to use secure parking spaces, install anti-theft locks, and report suspicious activity immediately.
The successful recovery has been welcomed as a strong step against rising vehicle thefts in the city.
