Bengaluru traffic authorities are set to resume vehicle towing operations across the Jayanagar traffic police zone from next week in an effort to address illegal parking and improve traffic flow on busy roads.

The move comes as part of a broader enforcement initiative aimed at easing congestion and ensuring better utilisation of public road space.

Towing operations to resume

Officials said vehicles parked in designated no-parking zones and locations causing obstruction to traffic movement will be subject to towing.

The enforcement drive will cover several major roads and commercial areas falling under the Jayanagar traffic division.

Authorities believe indiscriminate parking has become one of the key reasons for congestion in several parts of the zone, particularly during peak hours.

Focus on improving traffic movement

Traffic police have stated that illegally parked vehicles often reduce road width, create bottlenecks and hinder the movement of emergency vehicles.

The renewed towing initiative is expected to improve traffic discipline and encourage motorists to use designated parking spaces.

Officials have urged vehicle owners to pay attention to traffic signage and avoid parking in restricted areas to prevent penalties and towing charges.

Public awareness campaign planned

Before the commencement of the drive, authorities are expected to undertake awareness measures to inform residents, commuters and business establishments about the enforcement action.

Traffic personnel have also been directed to identify major parking violation hotspots and ensure consistent monitoring.

Officials stressed that the objective is not merely penal action but improving road safety and maintaining smooth traffic movement in one of Bengaluru’s busiest zones.

Residents urged to cooperate

Motorists have been advised to park vehicles only in authorised locations and comply with traffic regulations.

Authorities said strict enforcement would continue against repeat offenders and vehicles creating public inconvenience.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility and reduce traffic-related issues across Bengaluru
