Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Former Legislators’ Forum has opposed lavish spending on the 60th anniversary celebration of the Vidhana Soudha and said it should be pegged at no more than Rs. 10 lakh.
Forum president H.M. Chandrashekarappa said the celebration should be simple in public interest.
H.D. Basavaraju, general secretary of the forum, said senior legislators instrumental in introducing pro-people laws should be recognised and honoured.
“Even the Rs.10 crore allocated for the event is exorbitant. Expenses should be limited to Rs.10 lakh,” he said.
B.V. Ramachandra Reddy, vice-president of the forum, said the forum members would participate in the event only if it is celebrated in a meaningful manner.
