Bengaluru: Voters in the North-West Teachers Constituency, North-West Graduates’ Constituency, and Karnataka West Teachers’ Constituency will receive GPS-based updates on polling booth locations on their registered mobile phones.

“Approximately 90 per cent of voters using smartphones will benefit from the move. Finding the respective booths should not be an issue,” Amlan Aditya Biswas, Belagavi Regional Commissioner and Returning Officer for the Legislative Council election, said during a meeting of political party representatives here on Friday May 14.

‘The rule requires that one booth be put up for a 16-kilometer stretch.’ In the same booth, two separate ballot boxes will be kept,” he explained.

The number of star campaigners would be limited this time.  Processions would not be allowed on the day of the vote counting, said Belagavi City Police Commissioner Dr. M. B. Boralingaiah.  The officers urged the voters to follow the rules and warned stern action if they did not.
