Three people, including two women, have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping, stripping and assaulting a woman over the non-payment of loan interest, police said.

Loan dispute allegedly turns into violent assault

The arrested have been identified as Reshma Banu, Nazath and Suhail. The victim was reportedly acquainted with Reshma and had borrowed Rs 1 lakh from her two years ago.

Through Reshma, the woman was introduced to Nazath and subsequently borrowed another Rs 50,000 from her. According to the complaint, she had been paying Rs 5,000 every month to Nazath towards the loan and interest to Reshma.

However, financial difficulties reportedly prevented her from paying interest for six months and instalments for two months. The woman had also blocked Reshma’s number, alleging that she was repeatedly harassing her.

She later vacated her house and moved to her mother’s residence.

Woman allegedly lured to house and attacked

The accused allegedly called the woman to Nazath’s house on the pretext of offering her work for which she would be paid.

Reshma and her husband Suhail allegedly arrived at the house and assaulted the woman. They allegedly attacked her with a knife before forcing her into an auto-rickshaw and taking her to a house near Kumbalagodu.

The woman was allegedly assaulted again at the house. The accused also allegedly stripped her, recorded a video and threatened to make it viral.

Police rescue woman after missing complaint

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother had approached Chandra Layout police station and filed a missing person complaint.

Following the complaint, police traced and rescued the woman. The three accused were subsequently arrested after police recorded the victim’s complaint.

Further investigation is underway.
