A 28-year-old woman has approached the police alleging that an unidentified man secretly recorded her while she was bathing in the bathroom of her apartment in Green Glen Layout, Bengaluru.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 8.15 pm on May 31. The woman stated that she was taking a bath when she noticed a mobile phone positioned near the bathroom window. She suspected that the device was being used to film her without her consent.

Suspect fled after woman raised alarm

The complainant told police that the phone appeared to be sea-green in colour and had a dual-camera setup. She also briefly saw the person allegedly holding the device and described him as a man wearing a grey T-shirt.

Realising that she may have been recorded, the woman immediately raised an alarm. However, the suspect reportedly fled the scene before residents or security personnel could identify or stop him.

The woman later filed a complaint with the police, prompting an investigation into the alleged violation of privacy.

CCTV footage under scrutiny

Police have registered a case under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, which pertains to violation of privacy, and Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to voyeurism.

Officials said the matter is being treated seriously due to concerns over personal privacy and safety within residential communities.

Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment complex and surrounding areas to identify the suspect and trace his movements before and after the incident.

Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
