Woman attempts suicide on BDA premises for delaying compensation

Bengaluru: A woman on Monday attempted to end her life by consuming poison in protest against Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) for delaying the compensation for acquiring her property.

According to sources, the woman is identified as Mangala from Mahalskhmi Layout.

She consumed poison in front of Noor Jahan Khanum, special land acquisition officer, BDA when she failed to get a convincing reply from the BDA officer. It was said the BDA had acquired her property for the construction of an underpass on the Ring Road, near Dr Rajkumar’s Samadhi in 2012-13.

It is learnt that Mangala was rushed to Santosh Hospital, near Coles Park, Frazer Town for the treatment. According to reports, Mangala came to the BDA office with poison bottle and also a death note in which she claimed that BDA officials would be responsible for her death.
