Bengaluru: In an episode straight from a movie plot, a dead woman stood up when police were making arrangements to take her body to the mortuary for postmortem from her home. However, before it could be called a miracle, there is more to the story.
It is said that Raghu Gowda, a resident of Bagalgunte who works in a private firm, had beaten up his wife Pushpalata under the influence of alcohol on Monday night. Due to the assault, Pushpalata fell unconscious. When she collapsed, a petrified Raghu Gowda assumed that she had died and informed his relatives. He was not in his senses to even check if she was still alive. His relatives advised him to confess to police and as per the suggestion, Raghu Gowda rushed to the Bagalgunte police station.
On hearing the story, the police arrived at the crime scene to start their investigation. When they started preparing the body to be moved to the mortuary for a post mortem, Pushpalatha stood up on her feet, shocking everybody. Pushpalatha had only fallen unconscious as a result of the assault. However, the incident came as a huge relief to Pushpalatha as the police released Raghu Gowda after making him give an undertaking that he will not beat his wife in the future.
