Police have launched a murder investigation after the decomposed body of a 30-year-old married woman from Ilkal was found inside the rented house of her alleged lover in Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Body found inside locked house
The deceased has been identified as Akshatha, while the prime suspect is her alleged lover, Nana Saab, who has been missing since the body was discovered on June 20.
Police initially registered a case of unnatural death. However, following the post-mortem examination, the case was converted into a murder investigation after forensic findings indicated suspicious circumstances.
Officials said the rented house in Patalamma Layout was found locked from the outside when the decomposed body was discovered.
Couple allegedly lived together
According to the investigation, Akshatha married Krishna in 2014 and was the mother of two children. Krishna is employed as a carpenter in Bagalkot.
Police said Akshatha worked at a saree manufacturing factory in Ilkal, where she became acquainted with Nana Saab, who was employed as a weaver. Investigators believe the two were in a relationship and moved to Jigani in November last year.
The pair allegedly introduced themselves as husband and wife while renting the house.
Suspect absconding
Police said the couple had reportedly been involved in frequent arguments in the days leading up to the incident.
Nana Saab has remained untraceable since the body was recovered, making him the prime suspect in the case. A search has been launched to locate and apprehend him.
The victim’s husband has been informed about the incident, and further investigation is underway to establish the exact motive and sequence of events leading to Akshatha’s death
