Bengaluru: A 25-year-old software engineer accused of murdering her parents and younger sister in Bengaluru has told a magistrate’s court that she wishes to voluntarily confess to the crime.

The accused, Shwetha, appeared before the court on Thursday and said she understood the legal consequences of making a judicial confession. She told the magistrate that she had already confessed to the police and wanted to reiterate her statement before the court.

Triple murder shocked Bengaluru

Shwetha and her live-in partner, Kenneth J, both engineering graduates and former classmates, are accused of murdering her father Somasundar (52), mother Muthulakshmi (48) and younger sister Supriya (19) at their apartment in Seegehalli, KR Pura, on June 22.

According to police, Kenneth allegedly stabbed Muthulakshmi while she was asleep, after which Shwetha is accused of helping move the body. When Somasundar and Supriya returned home and discovered the incident, Kenneth allegedly attacked them. Somasundar managed to flee but collapsed on the staircase and later died in hospital after reportedly naming Shwetha and Kenneth as the attackers.

Accused fled after the murders

Police said the duo escaped Bengaluru on a two-wheeler before separating near Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu after the vehicle broke down. Shwetha was arrested from a hotel in Puducherry two days later, while Kenneth remains absconding.

Investigators said the accused claimed the murders were linked to financial distress, alleging that Shwetha’s family was upset over loans amounting to Rs 56 lakh, which she had taken to support Kenneth.

However, police said Shwetha gave inconsistent statements during interrogation, particularly regarding Kenneth’s role. They added that a clearer picture is expected once Kenneth is arrested.

Both accused are currently in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison, while police continue efforts to trace Kenneth and complete the investigation.#Bengaluru #Crime #TripleMurder #Karnataka #Police #NewsKarnataka
