Yellow Alert in several parts of K’taka, including coastal belt between Sept 15-19

Mangaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded Yellow Alert in the coastal belt of Karnataka, North interior Karnataka, Bidar and Kalaburgi for five days.

As per IMD predictions, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district and other places will witness heavy rainfall between September 15 to 19. 

Fishermen have been asked not to venture to the sea for fishing activities.

According to the IMD forecast for Saturday, ‘heavy’ to ‘very heavy rain’ is likely to occur in isolated places over all the coastal districts of Karnataka (Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi), Belagavi, Bidar, Kalaburgi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagalur, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Shivamogga and Tumkur districts.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Mangaluru (Dakshina Kannada) recorded the highest rainfall at 7 centimetres, followed by Shirali at 6 cm; Bhatkal and Panambur 5 cm each.
