Karnataka Police have launched an investigation into the mysterious car explosion on National Highway-48 in Tumakuru district that claimed one life and left two others injured on Friday.

One killed, two injured in blast

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Nagendra, a native of Ankola who was residing in Bengaluru. The injured are Ramya, an operation theatre technician at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Bengaluru, and Praveen, the cab driver.

Both injured persons are undergoing treatment at the Tumakuru District Hospital and are reported to be receiving medical care.

According to police, the three were travelling in a cab from Bengaluru to Ankola when the vehicle suddenly caught fire following an explosion on the highway.

Bomb-like material recovered

Investigators recovered bomb-like material from the burnt vehicle during the inspection. The suspicious material has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed examination to determine its nature and whether it was responsible for the explosion.

Police have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the blast and are awaiting the forensic report before drawing conclusions.

Probe underway

A detailed investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances that led to the explosion. Officials are examining all possible angles, including the origin of the explosive material and whether foul play was involved.

The forensic findings are expected to play a crucial role in determining the sequence of events and guiding further legal action.

Police have appealed to the public not to speculate until the investigation is completed and official findings are released.
