CHAMARAJANAGAR: The Bharachukki Waterfalls transformed into a vibrant spectacle of colors for the ‘Chaluva Chamarajanagar Bharachukki Utsava’, hosted by the Chamarajanagar District Administration. The festival, held on the Mandya-Chamarajanagar district border in Kollegal taluk, featured the waterfalls illuminated with colorful lights, enhancing their natural beauty.
The event kicked off with a musical evening by renowned singer Ananya Bhat and Kambada Rangaiah, attracting a large crowd. Local folk performances, including Gorkana Kunita, Kamsale, and Dollu Kunita, captivated the audience. Additionally, a short film promoting Chamarajanagar tourism was premiered during the festival. The two-day celebration, which includes the illumination of the falls, will conclude today.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Address
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the festival and addressed ongoing political criticisms related to the MUDA and Valmiki Development Corporation scams. He asserted that despite opposition efforts to challenge his position, he remains resolute and plans to strengthen his initiatives for the welfare of the poor.
Siddaramaiah also highlighted his frequent visits to Chamarajanagar, breaking the superstition that such visits could lead to political setbacks. He vowed to support tourism development in Chamarajanagar, including projects like water sports at Suvarnamukhi Reservoir, Gaganachukki Ropeway, and the development of B.R. Hills.
Key officials in attendance included Ministers H.K. Patil, K. Venkatesh, and Shivaraj Tangadagi, MLAs M.R. Manjunath, Puttarangashetty, and H.M. Ganesh Prasad, MP Sunil Bose, MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah, Additional DC Geetha Huded, Zilla Panchayat CEO Mona Roth, and SP B.T. Kavitha.
