Chamarajanagara: Authorities have arrested four individuals, including a minor, for the illegal transportation of sandalwood near Kollegal. The operation was conducted jointly by the CID and Forest Department personnel at the Sathegala Hand Post on Monday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gangadhar alias Ramesh (23) from Chennegowda Layout in Maddur near Mandya, Mahendra (18) from Kollageri, Shivashankar (20), and a juvenile (17) who is in conflict with the law.

Details of the Arrest

Officials intercepted a Bolero car used for transporting the sandalwood. Upon inspection, they discovered ten pieces of sandalwood weighing approximately 123 kg. The confiscated sandalwood and the vehicle were seized as evidence. Following the arrest, the accused were handed over to Forest officials for further investigation.
