Chamarajanagar : As International Democracy Day approaches on September 15, Chamarajanagar is preparing to host a significant event aimed at bolstering democratic systems and raising awareness among its residents. The district administration has organised an ambitious programme featuring a 24 km human chain stretching from Muguru Cross in Mysore district to Bhubaneswari Circle in Chamarajanagar. This event will occur simultaneously with similar activities across other districts in the state.
The human chain is expected to include over 19,000 participants and will be closely monitored by officers stationed every 100 meters, half a kilometre, and 1 kilometre along the route. The event will involve a broad range of participants, including district in-charge ministers, MLAs, corporation board presidents, local body representatives, rural leaders, associations, students, officers, employees, and citizens.
In addition to the human chain, the celebrations will feature the display of a 1 km long national flag, which will be showcased from Pacchappa Circle to Vartakara Bhawan. The event will also include cultural performances by folk art groups, such as children dressing up as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and reciting the Preamble of the Constitution.
The district administration has called upon all associations, organizations, voluntary groups, community leaders, representatives, students, officers, employees, and citizens to participate actively in the awareness programme to ensure its success.
International Democracy Day aims to promote democratic values, highlight the importance of democratic participation, and encourage citizen engagement in the democratic process.
