A shocking incident in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru district has sparked outrage, with a youngster accused of attempting to sexually assault a stray dog. The police have filed an FIR based on CCTV footage that captured the disturbing act at the Jayanagar bus stop on October 18. The footage, which surfaced on November 9, shows the accused, identified as Shivaraja from the Kattimane area, holding the dog and engaging in a vile act.
The incident was reported by a beat constable, and the police took suo motu cognizance. The video has since gone viral, further intensifying public anger, especially among animal rights activists and local residents. Authorities have vowed to secure the accused and conduct an investigation.
This case follows a similar incident in Bengaluru in February 2022, where a young man deliberately ran over a street dog, which also led to widespread public outrage. That case involved threats against animal activists and a significant bond amount for the accused’s release.
