Chikmagalur: Kadur police have made notable progress in combating a spate of cattle thefts with the arrest of three individuals from Ajjampur—Umar Farooq Khan, Mubarak, and Umar Farooq. These arrests mark a significant development in the investigation into illegal cattle trafficking in the region.
The authorities have successfully recovered stolen assets including an Ashoka Leyland vehicle valued at ₹1.10 lakh, three cows, a bull, and several calves, collectively worth ₹6.30 lakh. Additionally, a cow and another vehicle were also retrieved.
The breakthrough occurred when police intercepted a suspicious vehicle near Tangali bypass road bridge. Upon inspection, they discovered four cows inside the vehicle without proper documentation. The subsequent interrogation of the suspects revealed inconsistencies, leading to their arrest.
The arrested individuals were initially detained for further questioning and have since been remanded in judicial custody at Sakharayapatnam police station. This operation highlights the commitment of the Kadur police to addressing and curbing criminal activities in Chikkamagaluru.
