Bjp Accuses Congress Government Of Power Shortage In Karnataka Hospitals

The Karnataka BJP raised concerns on May 21, alleging that a doctor at Chitradurga government hospital had to resort to treating a patient using a mobile phone flashlight due to a lack of electricity. Termed “Darkness Bhagya” by the BJP, this critique targeted the ruling Congress government’s initiative of providing free electricity under the “Gruha Jyoti” scheme.

However, Dr. Ranganath, the Chitradurga District Health Officer, refuted these allegations, stating that there were no service disruptions at Molakalmoor General Hospital. He clarified that a brief power disruption occurred due to recent rains activating the generator for a few seconds.

In response, the BJP criticized the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government, labeling it a “Chombu” and “Chippu” government, suggesting emptiness and uselessness respectively. The BJP’s dig was in retaliation to the Congress branding the Central government as a “Chombu” government.

Dr. Ranganath assured that despite the power disruption, no operations were halted, and patients did not face any inconvenience. The exchange highlights the political tensions surrounding the issue of power supply and governance in Karnataka.
