Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan instructed the officials of the District Women and Child Welfare Department to create awareness about the facilities available to women under the law.
Suffered women who come to the Swadhara Centre should be made aware of the facilities available at the centre and the facilities available to women under the Family Act in cases where they cannot hire a private lawyer, he said.

Speaking at the Women and Child Welfare Department District Level Coordinating Committee meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Hall here, he said that apart from providing comfort to women who have suffered from domestic violence and other harassment, they should be informed about their social rights. He said that the CDPO officials should fix a permanent schedule and visit the respective taluks once a week and consult with the registered women.

He instructed the officers of the Police Department that if the cases of women who have no basis in the society and needy women are registered in the Police Station, they should immediately contact the Swadhara Kendra. Regarding illegal trafficking of women and children in the District, the Child Development Project Officer, Supervisors, and Child Protection Unit Staff visited village panchayats and schools to create awareness on preventing child trafficking and as part of the anti-trafficking day celebration, to various officers and staff of the District, to conduct human trafficking programmes in the Government pre-degree college. Jagriti participated in the programme and gave a report.

The Matrupurna Yojana which is being given to mother and pregnant women is also being refused in the District as the houses are far from the Anganwadi centrws and the hilly area is in large numbers, so it should be delivered to the beneficiary’s house as per the order of the Government and under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, the pregnant and mothers are being transferred in three installments of Rs. 5000 each, he said.

He instructed the officials that arrangements should be made accordingly.
He said that Anganwadi Centres which are under need of repair stage, the location and the required materials’ list should be given.

In the meeting Chief Executive Officer Priyanga M., Legal Service Officer Renuka, Women and Child Welfare Department Officer Shyamala C. K., District Health and Family Welfare Officer Sharad Naik, PO Officers, Swadhara Home Officers and others were present.
