Karwar: DC asked to clarify on investigation phase of crime cases

Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M. P. has said that information should be provided on the stage of investigation of cases of rape, murder and serious crimes in cases of violence against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. And also information and cases have been registered against those who committed violence.

He directed the Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Ajappa Sogalad. He spoke while presiding over the District Level Vigilance and Stewardship Committee meeting held at the Court Hall of the City’s District Collector’s office.

Clear and accurate information should be provided about cases registered against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The officials should inform the District Level Committee meeting about the status of the investigation, the pending incidents and the punishment in such atrocity cases. He said that only when the necessary information is available, it will be possible to provide justice to the victims of atrocities. Cases of caste abuse should be taken seriously and information should be provided. One day in every month, a local level grievance meeting should be organised to convince the sufferer that legal aid is always available. Through SCSP, TSP scheme, the scheme should be prepared locally and efforts should be made for the development of the race. The circular of the department should be amended to facilitate business transactions in the goveyrnment space.

He instructed the officials to work hard for the development of Scheduled Castes and Tribes by putting up different schemes through various departments. It was brought to the notice of the DC that even though the works undertaken by the Municipal Council were completed from January to the end of August, the bills of the Scheduled Category Contractors were not being paid and the Contractors were being inconvenienced.

On this occasion, the District Superintendent of Police Dr. Suman Pennekar, District DSS District President and Anti-Violence Committee Member Deepak Kudalkar and members of various organisations were present.
