Karwar: The Excise Department Officials conducted a massive operation and seized crores of rupees that were being transported to Bengaluru for new year celebrations. Illegal liquor too has been seized.
Acting on a tip-off, the Excise Officials stopped the lorry coming to Karnataka from Goa and conducted an inspection. At that time, 400 boxes of the vehicle contained 750 ml of water. In all 4,800 bottles of whiskey and 750 ml of Brandy in 9 boxes. A total of 3,681 litres of 108 bottles of illegal liquor have been seized. It is valued at Rs. 1.17 Crore and the vehicle is valued at Rs. 19.5 Lakh, said Excise Officials informed.
