Karwar: A sea turtle laid eggs during the day at Old Mudaga Beach in Amadalli Gram Panchayat limits on Friday February 3 and was preserved by the Forest Department at its place.

Damodar, a local fisherman, noticed a sea turtle laying eggs on the beach and immediately informed the Forest Department.

DCF Prasanth Kumar K.C. ACF Jayesh, Marine Division DRFOs Prakash Yaragatti and Chandrashekar Kattimani and Forest guard Murthy rushed to the spot and noticed that the turtle was laying eggs. The eggs were then preserved at the same place with the help of locals.

Speaking on the occasion, DCF Prashanth said that the Coastal Marine Cell is creating awareness among all fishermen to keep an eye on the beach as it is the time for turtles to lay eggs from November to March.
