Karwar: Indian Navy personnel martyred in Andaman-Nicobar

Karwar: An Indian Navy personnel from Ankola, who was on duty with the Navy in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands region, was martyred in an accident 3 to 4 days ago.

His body is being brought to his native place on morning of Thursday January 5.

The deceased has been identified as Nagaraj Mukunda Kalasa (33), a resident of Laksheshwara in Ankola Taluk of the District. He joined the INS in 2010 through Chilaka Karwar and became ready to serve the nation. He later served in Mumbai, after which he continued to serve in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

It is a matter of fate to be martyred with a couple of years to go before he retires. It is learnt that the body was flown to Ankola from Andaman and Nicobar in the early hours of morning of Thursday January 5 and the public was allowed to pay their last respects for two hours from 7.00 am.

It is learnt that the procession will go through IS Factory Road to K. C. Road and K. L. E. Road last rites are being performed with State honours at the Hindu Burial Ground in Kotwada and the concerned authorities and family members are making preparations.
