Karwar: The Banavasi Taluk Action Committee has condemned the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for forgetting the promise to start the renovation of Banavasi Madhukeshwara Temple in October.
Action Committee President Udayakumar Kanalli, and C. F. Naik and Secretary Vishwanath Wadeyar have demanded that the Department should start the repair work of the temple, immediately.
In the first week of July, 2021 the committee had brought to the notice of the Department that the Temple was leaking completely. They had threatened to protest if the renovatiin work did not start. They have also given written document and a 15-day deadline. The protest was called off after C. A. Vijayakumar along with his staff, visited the Madhukeshwara Temple and inspected it, held discussions with the office-bearers of the Action Committee and said that the repair work would start in October as soon as the rains stopped. But now it is the month of December and the Action Committee has expressed its displeasure over this negligence by the Department.
