Karwar: Prashantha Rao executive officer of Siddapur Taluk Panchayat opined that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme is helping poor to get a job and move towards development and the rural people should take advantage of it.
On Friday he celebrated ‘Rozgar Day’ at the work site where the lake is being developed under Amrita Sarovar construction in Manamane Gram Panchayat of the taluk. Many works including lake development, road work, drainage construction are going on under NREGA project. Thus, in Malavalli village of Manamane Gram Panchayat, development of lake in Aigalakoppa, construction of drains in Hanchinakeri, and repair of dirt roads are being carried out. Therefore, the labourers said that they should bring a large number of people with them when they come to work, he said.
Everyone should take advantage of the facilities available under the employment guarantee scheme in the Taluk. In addition, he said that the labourers should cooperate to get employment in Naregadadi and advance their personal life and community development. Naregadadi is giving full wages to those above 60 years, disabled, pregnant women at 50% discount. Panchayat Development Officer Nataraj Naika said that everyone should take advantage of this.
