Karwar: Kodambi Gram Panchayat has come forward to solve the problem of silting under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in accordance with the demand of the local people. The canal should be dredged as there is a high probability that the canals will be filled with mud and water will flow everywhere during the rainy season.
“Rozgar Divas” was celebrated at the work site for dredging the right bank canal of Ramapura Village under Kodambi Gram Panchayat of Mundagoda Taluk of Uttara Kannada District on Thursday April 27.
On this occasion Taluk IEC Coordinator Purnima Gowda said to the labourers to inform the people around them to take advantage of the employment guarantee work. Under the guarantee scheme, people above 60 years disabled, pregnant women, and disabled people will get concession. The main objective of our scheme is to prevent any labourers from migrating without employment, he said.
Works are provided to benefit the people of rural areas and labourers should spread information about the works of public benefit in their surroundings. There will be development of the village along with the wages, he added.
