Karwar: District-level tribal festival was held at Tatvanagi in Haliyal Taluk.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, V. Deshpande said that the Tribal Festival is conducive to the unveiling of the cultural art of the tribals. He said that the Department of Kannada and Culture has performed an essential job in maintaining and preserving the art, lifestyle and heritage of the tribals.
MLC Shantaram Siddhi said that the tribal pageant is a festival that displays the art, culture and heritage of the State.
Prior to the event, an art troupe procession was once taken out from the Durga Devi Temple in the Village. More than 150 artistes participated in the procession with their art performances and all the ladies of the village carried kumbha. The performance of art troupes travelled through the streets of the village and arrived on the stage.
The programme was presided over by Tatvanagi Gram Panchayat President Rajanabi Abdul Aziz Saheb Khan, Vice-President Nagavva Begura, Members Lakshman Mirashi, Aminabi Mujawar, Shakeela Nabisaba Chowkidar, Umesh Sunkada, Khirappa Adikehosur, Yellavva Vaddara and Shivaji Dange, Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Narendra Naik, Karnataka Bayalata Academy Member Siddappa Biradar and others were present.
