Karwar: One of the youth who went missing along with the deceased Paresha Mesta in Honnavar has been traced in the city here on December 12.
Lorry driver Abdul Gafur, a resident of Biligiri Koppa in Sirsi had gone missing along with Paresha Mesta after clash broke out in Chandavara in Honnavar.
There were reports that the duo had been abducted. However, after two days of missing, Mesta’a body was found in a lake in Honnavar.
Gafur’s family filed a police complaint suspecting that he too might have been dead following violent clashes in the city.
But on Tuesday, Gafur was traced in Honnavar and police have said that there were injury marks on his leg.
He has been shifted to a government hospital in Honnavar and PSI Anand Murthy said that he will be interrogated after he gets discharged from the hospital.
The district has been reeling under the tension over the last few days, after a local youth, Paresh Mesta was found charred to death after a clash between a Hindu and Muslim group. The BJP and the Hindutva organisations called for a bundh demanding the arrest of the culprits, suspecting that Mesta was murdered by particular community members.
