Karwar: Minister for Medium, Heavy Industries and Infrastructure Development, stressed on the need for agro based industries to support the farmers in the state during the Wine Fest 2017 organised at Kali River Garden in the Kodibagh area.
Moved by the response to the wine fest, Deshpande said, “Farmers will benefit from agro based industries as it increases the demand for produce.”
For the first time, a wine fest has been organised in the district and people of all age groups are visiting the venue. A turnover of over Rs 7 lakhs has been achieved on the first day of the fest.
“The government has taken a lot of measures to promote tourism in the district, which has tremendous potential. The district witnessed many fests including Karavali Utsav, Hornbill fest, Scuba diving fest, Kite fest and all these augur well for tourism in the area,” Deshpande noted.
Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul, Zilla Panchayat Chief executive Officer L Chandrashekar Naik, Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil, State Wine Development Board Chairman Ravindra Prakash Mirjee and Chief Manager of Kali River Garden Roshan Pinto were present at the fest.
