Karwar: Jayant Hegde from Lions English Medium School, Sirsi has won the Karnataka State Finals of the 2021 Rural IT Quiz, conducted jointly by TCS and Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka.
This year, students got an opportunity to participate in an engaging virtual format that gave them a completely new digital experience. The quiz witnessed participation from several districts across the State, with students from class 8 to 12 participating in the programme. After a preliminary online test, six students qualified for the virtual finals.
The finals had five segments – Byte Clouds, Byte Recognition, Byte Context, Borderless Bytes, Bytes Agile – which tested students’ knowledge in the IT domain, and prompted them to think laterally.
Jayant M. from STG Public School, Pandavapura of Mandya District has been placed as Runners-up.
State finals winner will compete at the national finals in November. Prizes at the National level include TCS educational scholarships of Rs. 1,00,000 for the winner, and Rs. 50,000 for the runner-up, the release stated.
