‘Tiger’ god idol dating back to Sonda rule stolen

Karwar: An ancient idol of ‘Huli (Tiger)’ god belonging to the time of Sonda chiefs (part of Vijayanagara dynasty) in the Uttara Kannada district’s Sirsi taluk, Bisalkoppa village, has been.

The idol was worshipped by the villagers every year with grandeur during the Deepavali festival.

This was a centre of devotion for many, which is famously called as “Huli Devara Katte”

According to the beliefs of the villagers, if their cattle or any animal was suffering from any ailment, praying to the Huli God and making offerings heals them.

A case has been registered in the Sirsi rural police station and investigation is in progress.
