Kasaragod: The Nileshwara Police has arrested three persons in connection with the mysterious death of a Tamil Nadu-based labourer at Nileshwara Kottaippura three days ago.

The arrested have been identified as K. P. Baiju (43) of Kalakanchery in Ernakulam, Muhammed Faizal (42) of Kalamassery and Daniel Benny (43) of North Paravur. The accused have been arrested in connection with the murder of Ramesh (43), a native of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.

The Police had registered a case of unnatural death. The postmortem of the body revealed that a severe head injury was the cause of death. The Police had questioned 11 people who were staying in a rented house. Investigations revealed a tip-off about the accused.

The reason for the murder is said to be that the accused did not give the money they had asked for. Ramesh and others had come to work on the Kottaippura-Kadinnamol Bridge. A total of 11 people, including Ramesh and the accused, were staying in this rented house.

Police have seized the iron rod used in the murder. Police said that there are more than 14 cases against the first accused Baiju in Ernakulam District.
